This summer sees the return of a number of Pride events across the country, and you can get involved to show your support across the region:
Pride began back in 1972, with a carnival style parade starting in Trafalgar Square and finishing in Hyde Park. The event has since expanded across the country, with thousands of people from the LGBT community in attendance, as well as their supporters. It is now recognised as a celebration of equality, diversity and inclusion for all people who identify themselves as LGBT.
You can join your colleagues by attending these events in their Trust uniform. Steve Rudd, who is a senior paramedic and Unison LGBT branch officer, said: “Anyone is welcome to join us, it is a celebration of diversity and not just about being gay, so more the merrier, they are just such a happy and fun event.”
If you would like to join your colleagues at one of these events, then please contact Steve.Rudd@eastamb.nhs.uk , paula.lacey@eastamb.nhs.uk or LGBT.network@eastamb.nhs.uk.
