Jubilee Medals and Coins

As part of our Jubilee celebrations, during the month of June all EEAST staff will receive either a commemorative Jubilee medal or coin.

The Jubilee medal is being issued by the government and will be for emergency services personnel who have been in paid service, retained or in a voluntary capacity for five years, and have to publicly face the prospect of dealing with emergencies as part of their conditions of service. In this instance, the government is defining ‘emergency services personnel’ as those who respond to the scene of 999 calls and who are potentially placing themselves in danger.’

The medal will be given to those who meet the above criteria and have completed five full calendar years of service as of 6 February 2022.  The total of 5 years qualifying service may be aggregated, but non-effective, unpaid or broken service will not count.

Eligibility is currently being reviewed by a Task and Finish Group and the final decisions are being reviewed by operational colleagues to ensure we are correctly following the guidance. These decisions will be ready by the end of May. If you are eligible, you will receive your medal from your line manager during June, you will need to sign for the medal.

At EEAST we wanted to take the Jubilee as an opportunity to thank everyone for the outstanding job you do, whatever your role. Those of you who do not receive a medal will be given a commemorative coin, please note everyone will receive one or the other, not both. The coins will also be handed out via your line managers during June.

Further details about the Jubilee celebrations, including the Long Service Awards, will be published on NTK over the coming weeks.
