Latest rumour busting question answered

Side of RRV with lozenge

The Trust has set up a ‘rumour busting’ email address to try and clarify some of the most talked about issues in the service. Here is the latest Q&A…

Q: I’ve been told by a manager that from now on if we are off sick for more than 12 weeks we will be sacked under capability. Is this even legal? Will there be anyone left?

A: The Trust’s Sickness Absence Management Policy and associated Procedure is on the intranet and has not recently changed.

Any changes will be made in line with legislation and through the policy group which involves HR, staff-side and management representatives, and will then go to the Senior Partnership Forum to be signed off.

The Trust will continue to support staff through their absence, with appropriate occupational health advice and guidance being sought, endeavouring to facilitate a return to the workplace. Please contact the HR team at hrservices@eastamb.nhs.uk if you have any absence concerns that you would like further advice on.

If you have heard something that you think might not be right, please email rumourbusting@eastamb.nhs.uk and we will respond as soon as we can.
