Leadership message from John Syson

John Syson

I’m sure you were saddened to hear about the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore earlier this week at the age of 100. As well as being an inspiration in his own right, I think Sir Tom’s fundraising also helped reinforce the vital role of the NHS during the ongoing pandemic. Rightly, we flew our flag at HQ at half-mast as a mark of respect for this extraordinary man.

The role you have all played during COVID and winter was highlighted during Thank You week last week. Over 77,000 people saw the thank you video from Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul, and thousands more shared their messages on social media and in local papers. We're putting together a short highlight video of the Thank You week, which we will share very soon.

We have made great progress with our vaccination programme in a very short time, and three -quarters of staff have now received their first jab. It is still possible to get a vaccination, and all the details are on Need to Know.

The latest Pulse Survey is out now and it really does help to hear your feedback on how things are on the ground. It’s a short survey, so if you can find five minutes to fill it in, that would be appreciated.

Finally, the recruitment process has started for our permanent chief executive, so we are on track to make an appointment in April. We are confident of attracting some high caliber candidates, and I’m sure our recent strong performance will be an added incentive to join.

Thank you for your time.
