Leadership message from the CEO, Dorothy Hosein

Dorothy Hosein

I hope you are all taking care in the heat and getting the chance to spend some time with your families on these glorious summer days.

I had the pleasure of attending the BME network meeting yesterday afternoon and was so impressed by the energy and focus of the group. Their work has come a long way and the progress made to date is impressive. For example, the team have worked on reviewing policies and procedures and are progressing with their wonderful idea of cultural ambassadors. Please watch out for the exciting and interesting actions which will be coming your way.

We are launching a Pulse survey on the 17 August and I would encourage everyone to be heard. Please complete the survey as it provides an opportunity for us all to see what achievements we have reached since the last survey and where we have more to do. Staff experience and wellbeing is one of my key priorities.

Having made the children of EEAST happy with our badge campaign and having received positive feedback we will now be reaching out to our volunteer community to thank them for all their wonderful work. So please look out for the form if you wish to nominate a volunteer.

I am sure you will have noticed that we are now publishing our performance data compared to national colleagues on Need to Know. I am so grateful to all of you for the fantastic effort and hard work which has lifted our response to patients in line with national standards.

We are still managing our response to the pandemic and doing all we can to protect our colleagues. Just a reminder that if you are travelling abroad for a holiday the advice for isolation is changing rapidly. Please take care of yourselves and each other.

I would like to say a huge thank you to our Operational Support team. Throughout the pandemic they have worked tirelessly to ensure that we are ready to attend patients and are safe in the workplace. Their hard work continues as the teams modify our workplaces to ensure we remain COVID safe. So, a big thank you to our colleagues throughout operational support – fleet, estates, Make Ready and clinical engineering.

Take care all and I hope to see you soon in the virtual world
