Leadership Message from Tom Davis

Dr Tom Davis

As we head into Mother's Day weekend, I am reflecting on the need for kindness, support and care, all the things I relate to with my mum.

It is important to apply these values to our workplace and how we treat each other and our patients, not just on one day but everyday on every contact.

I have also been reminded this week about the need for mental health awareness in the workplace and I was delighted to be able to represent the board at the launch meeting of the Disability Network. The next meeting will be held on 30th April in Melbourn. Look out for more details in Need to Know soon. If you are interested in supporting the network, please contact Amanda Marsh or Esther Shaw.

You will have received an email, earlier this week, with our CQC staff and volunteers guide. The CQC visit is an opportunity to demonstrate the ways in which we’re improving patient care and the working environment for you. The inspectors will speak to many members of staff and volunteers. So feel ready to tell your story, the guide will help you do that.

I attended the LOM listening event this afternoon and was pleased to be able to update the team on our progress with Medicines Management. The work is being progressed and we are looking at starting to roll out a centralised process for managing drugs bags from July 2019. The project team, will be engaging with local teams over the next months and I will be able to update in the near future.

At the Public Board meeting yesterday, the board agreed the next consultation phase of our clinical strategy. An important part of this is your views as staff and the wider public. Please keep an eye out for the details on being able to input on clinical strategy.

Thank you and keep well.

Dr Tom
