Locality Director commends brave 12-year-old

Molly Poultney and family

Locality Director for Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Dave Fountain has commended a 12-year-old girl from Luton for staying calm in an emergency he attended in March.

Molly Poultney was playing with her friends on a day out in Berkhamsted when a young boy from her school fell from a tree.

Whilst EEAST staff, including Dave, were on their way, Molly remained calm and supported the mum of the injured boy, fetching blankets and kindly reassuring both her and her child.

And her award was made all the more poignant as, just a few weeks ago, Molly sprang into action again to help another boy who had got into serious difficulties.

Dave attended Molly’s school assembly last week to present her with a commendation and said: “I wanted to commend Molly for the calmness, friendliness and absolute support she gave to me and the injured boy throughout the incident. She was fantastic and really made a significant difference to a difficult situation.”

Caddington Village School School Headteacher Sue Teague, said: “We are extremely proud of Molly. She is a kind and considerate pupil and is a credit to us and her family. It is fantastic to see Molly receive praise for her actions.”
