Locality director impressed with the next generation of paramedics

Locality Director Matt Broad met the first paramedic science students at University Campus Suffolk (UCS), in Ipswich last week, who will joining EEAST on their placements later this year.

The students, who began their training in March, gave a presentation on a range of pre-hospital topics to the locality director for Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Matt said: “Having only been at UCS for six weeks, the group have settled in well to life and demonstrated to me a range of assessments and skills that they will build upon over the coming three years.”

"I'm looking forward to going back to UCS as the course progresses and to do some teaching again."

Course leader Lee said: “"UCS paramedic science degree students are excited and enthused to attend their first placements following an inspirational morning with Matt.

“The students prepared a presentation of the first six weeks of the course and Matt answered questions relating to NHS values, the future for EEAST and shared personal clinical experiences. This is a fantastic example of the importance of collaborative working.

“We are looking forward to Matt returning on future visits where he plans to teach a variety of subjects such as sepsis, respiratory assessment and treatment.”
