Michael Lewis

Transparent EEAST crest

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our former colleague Michael Lewis, a station supervisor at Beccles, passed away last weekend.

Michael worked for 31 years for EEAST, the vast majority of this at Beccles, his home town, before retiring in 2011. He was a much loved and respected member of the ambulance service family.

Our thoughts are with Mike's wife, Wendy, his children and grandchildren as well as his many friends and colleagues, in and out of the service.

Mike’s funeral will take place at St Luke’s Church in Beccles (NR34 9JQ) at 11am on Friday, 18th November. This will be followed by a private family committal at Beccles Crematorium.

Following the church service and committal, there will be a gathering at the Caxton Club, Gaol Lane, Beccles, NR34 9SJ and the family would be very happy for all staff to attend. There is three hours free parking at Tesco’s in Beccles if you can find a space.

Mike’s wishes were that he had a service funeral and we have been working with the family to ensure that his wishes are fulfilled but also that the family are comfortable with the arrangements.

If you are attending, the family have requested that you come in uniform. Please could you ensure that you are wearing the appropriate full green uniform including the Trust soft shell jacket and not the fleece jacket. There will a guard of honour outside the church as the hearse arrives.

The family have requested no flowers but would like any donations  to go to East Anglian Air Ambulance and Oak Court Residents a/c. Donations can be made through Cossey Funeral Services, 4 Exchange Square, Beccles, NR34 9HL.

If you have any questions about the above or would like more information, please contact Rogan Day or Dave Ellard at Waveney Depot.
