MP calls rideout ‘inspiring and eye-opening’

Priti Patel rideout in Witham with Trust paramedics

Priti Patel, MP for Witham, Essex has described her observer shift on Thursday (6th June) as 'inspiring and eye-opening’.

Ms Patel joined Trust paramedics Pippa and Rob on a night shift , to experience first-hand what life is like on the frontline.

"It really was both an inspiring and eye-opening evening. Both Pippa and Rob were brilliant with the patients and are a credit to the ambulance service. They spoke about how staff morale has lifted since the appointment of Dr Marsh and how they feel that he understands the frontline staff.

“It's really important to me to witness first-hand the issues that are affecting the service, and listen to the crews thoughts and views on how the service is run, and I'm keen to go out on another shift soon to help widen my experience," said Ms Patel.

Pippa said: "It was great to have Priti come out with us and see what our work is like. A lot of people are surprised by the types of calls we get - and also the volume. It's really encouraging to have an MP genuinely interested in understanding the realities of the service."
