It is with great sadness that we need to inform you of the death of our colleague Neil Barrett on Saturday.

Neil was a dearly loved EMT based at Kempston. Working for the ambulance service for 32 years, he was an extremely kind, popular and supportive member of our ambulance family.

There will be a funeral service, which we are currently beginning to plan with his family.

Simon King, Sector Head for Bedfordshire and Luton, said: “Neil was a gentleman and someone who always put others first before himself. We will miss him enormously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Robbie and his children Sam and Rachel.”

If you are affected in any way by Neil's death, you can contact the staff Wellbeing Hub team on 03456 089 945. Also, TRiM practitioners will be available in Kempston and Bedford at the end of this week to support anyone affected; again, contact the Wellbeing team if you would like an appointment time. You can access the chaplains, and other forms of support, through the Hub too.

Both the Trust's Employee Assistance Programme, on 0800 085 1376, and the Samaritans, on 116 123, are available 24 hours a day.
