New dispatcher training course

A new dispatcher training course is underway in Norwich Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) with the first students due to hit the Trust’s radio airwaves this week.

The course has been specifically designed by existing control room staff to help ensure new dispatchers have a thorough understanding of the role. Seven students took the two week course, who will then go on to be mentored in the control room for four weeks.

Tom left a career in banking to join the ambulance service. He said: “I decided it was time for a change and I wanted to do something worthwhile so I decided to apply for the dispatcher role. The course has definitely been a challenge so far but it’s been really interesting and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
