New-look way of putting volunteering in focus

A big thank you to everyone who attended the inaugural Volunteer Advisory Forum, the platform upon which all volunteer disciplines will discuss issues, generate new ideas, and learn and develop from one another.

The forum is made up of representatives from community first responders, volunteer car drivers, the Trust User Group and the Trust Chaplaincy Service, and Friday’s meeting in Melbourn gave the group a chance to learn more about how the forum could work and how the volunteer groups could be working more closely together.

The forum will meet three times a year, and report into the Executive Leadership Board, as well as providing the Trust board with an annual report.

Kevin Brown, Director of Service Delivery, chaired the meeting and thanked volunteers for their massive contribution to the service: “The forum is a step in the right direction to help build upon current engagement with volunteers and ensure they continue to feel part of the Trust; their work with us is vital. It was great to have a candid, thought-provoking meeting which included many people who might not normally know how to get their views and ideas across. I’m really looking forward to working with our volunteer groups to improve their experience of volunteering with us, and make better connections between these groups and our staff cohorts.”

The next meeting is in May, and the forum will also report back to a Board meeting every year.
