New pilot to help manage pressure at acutes

From 14^th December, EEAST will be running a pilot in Essex called ‘intelligent conveyance’ with the aim of managing pressures at the county’s five acutes.

Intelligent conveyance is about changing the destination A&E for ambulances, when the system is saying that some hospitals are under too much pressure to receive patients in a timely manner. It should tackle the surges in demand at individual A&Es where possible.

This is a pilot to test whether this would work in a county whose five A&Es are on a nearly daily basis dealing with surges, and especially in the winter period where demand peaks during December and we face our busiest days for 999 calls.

Managers of all patient-facing staff will also be available to discuss face to face any issues, ideas or concerns you may have if you feel you have questions which haven’t been covered in the FAQs or face to face
