New research in care homes

Research into improving the health and care of care home residents has been published.

The Advancing Care report from the National Institute for Health Research provides highlights on current research taking place and explores new approaches being developed in this important but often overlooked area - there are more than twice as many people living in care homes in England and Wales than there are people staying in hospital.

The review reports on three themes relating to the care of older people in care homes, including maintaining good health and quality of life, managing long term conditions associated with ageing, and ensuring a good quality end of life.
