New Rotational Paramedic Scheme Launched

Advanced Paramedics in Urgent Care

Six EEAST Advanced Paramedics in Urgent Care have this week embarked upon a collaborative rotation scheme with Norfolk Community Health and Care Trust (NCH&C).

The next six months will see them integrating with community colleagues such as specialist nurses, admission escalation avoidance teams and palliative care providers. The aim is to challenge and broaden their knowledge and skills through experience of patient care delivery across a wide range of alternative community-based clinical settings, thus improving the care they give and strengthening operational understanding and working relationships between EEAST and community staff.

Phase two of the pilot will allow NCH&C staff the opportunity to experience and contribute to unplanned emergency care delivery alongside EEAST staff in the frontline ambulance setting.

Although the rotation scheme is a first for EEAST, similar programmes are operational in other UK ambulance trusts.
