New staff appraisal conversations coming soon

The HR and Organisational Development teams, as part of the new leadership strategy, are looking at how we value, develop and manage our workforce across the Trust.

The strategy is based on four key themes of compassionate and systems leadership, improvement methods and talent management.

From the feedback in the cultural audit and staff survey, one of the key themes was a lack of opportunity to have meaningful conversations with managers.

In the coming weeks, staff conversations will be introduced to better support you and allow you to have compassionate conversations with your manager. These will include your career aspirations, your wellbeing at work and how the Trust can enable you to do your job to the best of your ability every day.

This is a continuous conversation throughout the year, with two formal check points that will form the appraisal process. We have developed a revamped process that helps you and your manager have a meaningful conversation, and will be led by you.

We are currently trying the new format in a range of teams to get feedback. If you are part of this pilot, please give honest and constructive feedback so we can roll out the improved process to all staff in the early Autumn.

If you have any queries at this time, please email Leadership and Quality Improvement Consultant, Sarah Massie.
