News from EOC

HEOC call handler

It has been a busy first couple of weeks in the job as head of EOC (emergency operations centre) but we have made some good progress so far.

One of the first things to do is align the three control rooms to the Trust’s new locality structure. The main change this entails is that jobs in Cambridgeshire will be dispatched from Norwich EOC, rather than Bedford. Further work is needed on the practicalities and timing of this in terms of capacity, estates and technology changes in Norwich, so I will keep you updated. This means that in the future the call handling and dispatching for Cambridgeshire will take place from Norwich, instead of split across two control rooms.

In other news, from Monday (26th May) Nicholas Jones will be taking on the role of assistant general manager of Bedford EOC and Gemma Bolland will be returning to her substantive role. Gemma has made a huge impact in EOC during her time in this role, which has been extremely pressured and difficult at times, and I know you’ll all join me in saying a huge thank you to Gemma for her continued and unwavering hard work.
