Nominations opened for the prestigious Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence this week to give special recognition to those in the air ambulance field.

Organised by the Association of Air Ambulances (AAA), the awards are judged by a panel of experts and broken up into nine categories to honour the exceptional contributions of staff and volunteers:

  • Air Ambulance Paramedic of the Year
  • Air Ambulance Doctor of the Year
  • Air Ambulance Pilot of the Year
  • Special Incident Award
  • Outstanding Young Person Award
  • Charity Staff Member of the Year
  • Air Ambulance Campaign of the Year
  • Charity Volunteer of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh said: “We work very closely with our air ambulance colleagues in treating those in need and many of you will have witnessed the incredible job they do first-hand.

“Many of our own staff work with the air ambulance charities in our region; if you know of someone, EEAST or otherwise, who is worthy of a nomination I would really encourage you to take the time to submit it. Our air ambulances and the staff that crew them are a vital resource and it’s important to give them the recognition they deserve.”

Anyone can make a nomination, either for an individual or a team, before the closing date on 1st September. The winners will be announced the awards gala dinner in London on 17th November.
