Norfolk’s newest community first responder group will be staging a launch event this weekend.

Mulbarton CFRs will be at the village’s Co-operative Food store on Saturday (11th June) to teach people life-saving skills and to recruit new members to the group.

The volunteer life-savers currently have six active members.

However, they are hoping to get more people to sign up at their event at the Co-op, in Cuckoofield Lane, from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday. They will also be attending the village’s Queen’s picnic on the Common on Sunday to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Queen.

Lizzie Martin, co-ordinator of Mulbarton CFRs, who is also a call handler for the Trust, said: “We are able to volunteer for around 200 hours a month at the moment and can offer cover every weekday evening, but would love to hear from more people in the village who would like to join.

“We have a good variety of skills, including a cardiac nurse and first aid trainer, to people who just want to help in their community.”

The Mulbarton group has attended 20 emergencies since the turn of the year and received funding from the Co-op for new uniforms.

There are more than 60 CFR groups in Norfolk whose members attended 3,629 medical emergencies in 2015/16.
