Nursing and Residential Care Homes

There remains a number of patients that we continue to attend within care facilities across our region. There have been wide ranging reports into the concerns of staff and for their residents.

While we have provided feedback to local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups from your DATIX submissions we have also received some feedback.

It is important to note that from our perspective, with sustained community transmission likely, the advice to use level 2 PPE within 2 meters when assessing and providing care remains. This also includes building a safe system of work through your risk assessment.

When we are interacting with care staff its essential we remain factual, professional and the guidance we provide is based on evidence. The feedback we have had describes situations where we openly criticise staff and question why they would want to work in the environment.

The care staff provide an essential and vital service for some of our most vulnerable people and it is important we support with the respect they deserve during these very challenging and upsetting times.
