Please find details below about upcoming online training sessions delivered by St Nicholas Hospice Care throughout August.

All sessions take place on Zoom. The link to each session will be emailed to you after booking. 

All their courses are free to attend, but they are grateful for any donations towards the work of the Hospice. There is an option to donate on each booking form.

Life’s Questions

This course is suitable for:

  • Anyone

This session looks at:

  • How can Life's Questions help you have difficult conversations around death, loss and grief in your families, friends and colleagues in the time of COVID-19?

Coordinating Care in the Community

This course is suitable for:

  • Health, social and voluntary care staff 

This session explores: 

  • How we can ensure a good death in our community

Date and time: Wednesday 4 August, 2pm – 3pm


Team Debriefing

This course is suitable for:

  • Health, social and voluntary care staff 

This session aims to:

  • Discuss reflective models, reflective practice and how using a model can make sense of an adverse situation

Date and time: Tuesday 10 August, 2pm – 3pm


Comfort Measures at End of Life

This course is suitable for:

  • Health, social and voluntary care staff with an interest in end-of-life care  

This session aims to identify the needs of persons in your care at end of life and covers:

  • Guidance on practical support in delivering care at end of life
  • Understanding government and local policies

Compassion Fatigue

This course is suitable for:

  • Health, social and voluntary care staff

This session covers:

  • Defining compassion fatigue, recognising the symptoms and costs and how to avoid it
  • Defining symptoms and how we can practise self-care

Palliative Care Emergencies

  • Why we care about palliative emergencies
