Opportunities for specialist clinicians in hear and treat

Bedford EOC 1

Our emergency clinical advice and triage centre (ECAT) - previously known as the clinical support desk (CSD) - is growing! And we’re excited to share some great opportunities to join the team as a 'specialist clinician in hear and treat'.

Based in Bedford, Norwich and Chelmsford EOCs, the ECAT is there to intercept lower acuity and clinically appropriate 999 calls. These clinicians can then provide advice and arrange safe and appropriate care pathways for these patients.

We know that not everyone who calls 999 needs an ambulance - in October alone, ECAT triaged 10,854 calls from patients and referred 3,955 calls to alternative care pathways. This saved hundreds of unnecessary ambulance attendances by our patient-facing teams.

Dual working arrangements are available to staff that are interested in splitting their time between road and EOC. This would mean that you would be released to perform operational duties, alongside your duties in EOC as part of your work rota, and secondment opportunities are also available.

We are advertising externally for registered nurses and HCPC registered paramedics to join us too - so if you know someone that might be interested, please direct them to our advert on NHS Jobs!

If you want to apply, have any questions about the role, or would like to arrange a shift to come in and see what the job is like first hand, please contact sandra.treacher@eastamb.nhs.uk.
