Ops update: changes to GP referrals at Barnet Hospital

Staff with patient on stretcher at accident and emergency

From Monday, 19th December, Barnet Hospital will have a new Acute Assessment Unit (AAU). All GP expected patients will be sent here instead of the emergency department, unless they require resus or have D&V.

As part of this change, a group of senior nurses will have a new ‘navigator’ role and take all referrals to the medical team. Patients will then be signposted to the most appropriate area. The team will be working Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
