Norfolk’s out-of-hours GP service has been praised in the latest patient survey, with more than 95% of people satisfied with the care they received.

Dozens of patients referred to the service outside of GP opening hours during October completed feedback forms.

The results, published last week, revealed that 95.4% of patients rated the out-of-hours service as very satisfactory, satisfactory or fairly satisfactory.

Forty-five surveys were returned from patients who had been referred to an out-of-hours centre, received a visit from a doctor or received over the phone advice from a GP between 1 and 31 October.

More than 90% of respondents said the time they waited at an out-of-hours clinic to get medical help was very acceptable or acceptable.

Everyone who completed the questionnaire said they were treated with dignity and respect and 95.3% said the service exceeded, met or reasonably met their expectations.

Comments from respondents included: “First experience of ever needing medical assistance and it could not have been better. Much appreciated, well done!”

Another patient said: “Very reassuring to have this service, well done all.”

Another said: “The doctor was efficient, pleasant and clear in his approach and analysis.”
