Overtime incentive arrangements

We are seeing some positive signs of winter pressures reducing but there is seasonal drift into the Easter period. The Easter fortnight historically presents challenges with high annual leave combining with wider NHS pressures. We have identified that we need to further increase our patient facing vehicle hours and provide the associated support to the delivery of care to our patients.

A further overtime incentive scheme has been approved for the period 31st March 06:00 (shift starts onwards) and will end at the conclusion of any night shifts starting on 16th April.  An Ops Update is being emailed to all staff, but this incentive applies to the following staff groups who are working overtime shifts:

  • All staff providing emergency response
  • PTS staff who commit overtime on a whole shift basis to support urgent work for A&E Operations
  • EOC staff (covering all associated functions on site)
  • Operational support staff who are making sure our fleet is ready and available to respond (i.e vehicle technicians, AFAs, Workshop Charge hands, clinical engineers, bank drivers).

Overtime will be managed to ensure additional staffing is put out where and when needed.

It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that the working time directive is complied with. All managers must ensure the health and wellbeing of all staff undertaking additional duties and maintain compliance with statutory rest periods and working time regulations.

The Ops Update is also available to download on East24.
