Overtime Incentives to Provide Optimal Patient Care

Caring for our patients is our number one priority.

Whilst this is always the case, it is particularly important we focus on this during the winter and festive periods, when greater pressure is placed across the health and social care system.

In order to support each other and our ability to deliver care to patients at identified pressure periods the Executive Leadership Team and the wider Management Team reviewed a number of options and agreed the following incentives for staff taking up overtime shifts between Friday 14th December and Sunday 13th January.

 The incentives are available to (subject to authorisation):

  • All staff providing an emergency response
  • Ambulance Operations Centre staff
  • PTS staff providing urgent work for A&E Operations
  • Operational support staff who are making sure our fleet is ready and available to respond
  • Support staff providing winter cell functions as part of the winter plan
  • Staff who pre-plan and book an extension to an existing shift (8hrs or less), for example from 8hrs to 12hrs claiming the 4hr extension rate

Full details of rates can be found in the bulletin, however, all shifts are to be booked and recorded on GRS by midnight on 3rd December to be eligible.

We fully understand that people may feel that there is unfairness if you are already rostered on any of these qualifying shifts. We have taken this into account in ensuring the available date range gives most people therefore an opportunity to work some overtime in addition to their rostered shifts.
