Royal Papworth Hospital is moving!

NHS logo

As you may be aware, Royal Papworth Hospital is moving from Papworth Everard to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (Addenbrookes site).

The move is taking place over the course of the next two weeks.

For planned journeys (inter-facility transfers/appointments) it will be clear which hospital location the patient will be taken to.

PPCI Emergency Services will switch over to the new Royal Papworth Hospital site as of midday on Wednesday 1st May 2019
This includes the RapidNSTEMI pathway that is available to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough sector.

The emergency activation/pre-alert number for the new site, to be used from midday on Wednesday 1st May 2019 is 01223 638888.

Staff should note that the PPCI checklists are in the process of being updated, the eligibility criteria has not changed but please be aware that the new activation/pre-alert number needs to be used and that the PPCI checklists in circulation may have the incorrect (old) number.

Unfortunately the Airwave telephone directory is not able to be updated until the next audit cycle (late 2020).
If in doubt EOC will be able to provide the updated number to you.

A video virtual tour of the access route to the NEW Royal Papworth Hospital can be found here.

Some areas of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough may be closer to Kettering General Hospital that also offers PPCI Emergency Services.
A guidance sheet is being provided for these areas that will contain details of the service and how to activate Kettering General Hospital.

If you have any questions or queries please first approach your LOM or alternatively email clinical.leads@eastamb.nhs.uk.
