Paramedic? Take the next development step with practice

The next generation of practice education courses are coming soon.

Working with the University of Hertfordshire (UoH), and using feedback from previous courses, a bespoke Practice Educator (PEd) programme will have the emphasis on paramedic practice education rather than nursing mentorship.

The two-day course will include a requirement to supervise students over the duration of the programme. There will also be an assessed element, allowing participants to gain 15 credits at either level five or level six.

Features of the programme:

• Learning styles and their relevance to practice education
• The role of the PEd
• Learning, teaching and assessing
• Facilitating effective feedback
• Academic practices
• PEd theory and practice
• Supporting challenging students
• Personal development plans and failing to fail.

 The aim is to also provide a learning opportunity for future cohorts, but this is still in the planning stage with UoH and is not currently an option.

The first of these programmes will be in Norfolk in February, with further courses planned in other localities in March and April.

Whilst this programme is currently only for HCPC professional registered staff, other staff grades are encouraged to participate in the Trust-delivered mentorship workshops, to be arranged soon.
