Performance improvement action plan

After sharing his top priorities in Need to Know this year, Dr Anthony Marsh has now published his performance improvement action plan for the Trust.

The plan, which contains six priorities for the whole Trust to focus on, was officially ratified at Friday’s (March 28) Board meeting in Bedford. It sets out where the Trust is going, what it wants to achieve, and how it will do it:

1. Recruit 400 student paramedics in 2014/15

2. Train up emergency care assistants (ECAs) to emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and EMTs to paramedics

3. Maximise clinical staff on frontline vehicles

4. Reduce reliance on response cars and increase ambulances

5. Speed up the vehicle and equipment replacement programme

6. Reinvest funding into frontline delivery.

Dr Marsh said: “I want this plan to create a vision for us - one that’s ambitious, exciting and compelling, but also achievable. I also want it to be simple so we all understand what we are doing to improve our service; the plan itself takes each priority and breaks it down into actions, all of which are led by a named person.

“Everyone should be able to look at this plan and understand where we’re going and what we are achieving. We all need to own the plan and contribute to its success. I truly believe that these actions are, and will continue to make a positive difference to your working lives and the care we provide to patients.”
