Phil Bonnett

The Trust is saddened to share the news that Phil Bonnett, a retired EEAST technician, has passed away after a period of ill-health.

Phil, 71, was a popular and much-loved member of staff in Norfolk, most famously known for his involvement in organising the annual carnival in his home town of Cromer.

After completing his training in Essex in 1972, Phil joined the frontline at Cromer station as an ambulance technician. Swiftly becoming a leading ambulance-man, Phil also spent a brief spell at Great Yarmouth as a station officer before becoming a well-known controller at Norwich EOC. Phil then made the move into the scheduling team before retiring at 64.

In his spare time Phil enjoyed singing in the choir at Cromer Church, and helping as Chair at the local infant school. He leaves behind his beloved wife Jane, and sons Mark and Andrew. 

Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said: “Everyone that knew Phil describes him as a professional, popular and admired colleague and friend. His unwavering commitment and dedication to the ambulance service is reflected in the many years he spent here, and there is no question that he will be sorely missed by us all.

“I know you will all join me in sending our thoughts and best wishes to Jane, Mark and Andrew at this terribly sad time.”

Phil’s memorial service is being held on Wednesday 29^th July at 2pm at Cromer Parish Church; colleagues are welcome to attend, and may wear uniform if they would like to.
