Planning ahead for another busy weekend

EEAST RRVs and amb on scene

As the immense demand on the Trust continues, we are planning ahead for another expected busy weekend.

Steps have been taken during this time to help support our staff as we remain at REAP 4.

These include:

  • More cover has been arranged. Additional shifts have been organised to enable us to put more crews and ambulances out and available to patients.
  • Refreshment facilities have been arranged at hospitals for our staff to get hot drinks and snacks where prolonged delays are being experienced. Please ask your DLO for guidance as there are different set ups across the different acute hospitals.
  • Within our control rooms we’ve arranged for additional duty managers, admin staff, ECAT clinicians and clinical co-ordinators to help and support.
  • Senior clinicians are available for staff wanting clinical advice.
  • Clinical managers continue with patient facing duties.
  • HALO cover has been extended at some hospitals to 24 hours a day.
  • Our Patient Safety Intervention Teams (PSITs) continue to operate across the region and will be dispatched based on priority at each hospital.

Sandy Brown, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Nursing and Clinical Quality, said: “Thank you all for your continued hard work and amazing efforts to care for our patients during this time of extreme demand and pressure.  Your ongoing contribution and commitment to our patients, their care, and to supporting each other is essential and what makes our service.  Please remember to take of yourselves and continue to support each other during this challenging time.”
