Plans drawn up for increased demand from pub openings

Blurred ambulance

With pubs and restaurants reopening on Saturday 4th July, the operations team are putting in place plans to deal with the anticipated increase in demand.

Both patient facing staff hours (PFSH) and staffing in the Ambulance Operations Centre (AOC) have been increased over that weekend, from Saturday 4th July to Monday 6th July.

Staff will almost certainly have to deal with increased drink-related incidents, more than we have seen since lockdown began, and that will potentially be exacerbated by the chance of hot weather.

We are reminding staff of the need to stay safe with social distancing measures as much as possible and to remember their conflict resolution training and the need for dynamic risk assessment to ensure the safety of all at any incidents.

Similar arrangements have been pencilled in for the following weekend, although we will of course keep under review following on from the first opening weekend of the night-time economy reopening.
