Positive conversations at first meeting of LGBT Network

LGBT Network MeetUp

A group of people passionate about re-establishing an EEAST LGBT Network met in Bedford on Tuesday (17th April) evening.

Chair Sarah Boulton was there alongside Equality and Diversity Lead Paul Fitzgerald and interim LGBT Network Chairman Benjamin Mudd, to kick off a positive conversation about how we can improve our focus on LGBT.

Sarah said: "It was fantastic to hear about what people have been able to achieve in previous years, and I would like to thank them for their efforts to date. While it is clear that, while we have a lot to do, we already have a small group of people willing to make this work. We need to celebrate diversity of all our people. I expect these individuals to develop a vibrant network."

Interim chairman Benjamin Mudd added: "There was clearly a passion in that room to represent people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender in EEAST. I am looking forward to supporting this programme and seeing what will emerge."

The next meeting will be on 15th May at Morton Hall Community Centre, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, from 7pm.

If you would like to get involved in the network, find EEAST LGBT+ Network on Facebook and further information is available at  https://www.ambulancelgbt.org
