Rechecking of DBS records underway

Typing

As part of the Trust’s commitment to safeguarding, human resources (HR) has commenced a rolling programme of rechecking all our DBS records, starting with our oldest records.

The aim is that the Trust will move to a position where no person employed in a role which requires DBS clearance will have a disclosure, deemed satisfactory to the Trust, which is more than three years old.  The HR team will shortly be contacting staff to ensure any outstanding checks are actioned as required.

Any staff recorded as due for a check will be sent an email over the coming months, to arrange a suitable date and time for you to come and complete an e-DBS. Trained checkers across the Trust will be able to complete these checks with you.  Following this email, it is essential that you please book in for a check as soon as possible. Due to the numbers involved and the availability of trained DBS checkers, this project will start in Essex and will be rolled out to other areas as soon as possible.

Following your check, you’ll also be able to sign up to the DBS update service - an online subscription service which lets you keep your DBS certificates up to date, and also allows employers to check your certificate online without the need for you to come in for a further check.  It allows you to use your certificate for multiple roles, and across different organisations where the same level of check is required. It’s a great opportunity, so please consider signing up.

Please look out for your email, which will contain further information about how to book your check. If you have any queries in the meantime, please contact Project Support Officer Rebecca Lancaster at rebecca.lancaster@eastamb.nhs.uk.
