Remember how SPOC can help you

Following a recent dip in referrals, the single point of contact (SPOC) team would like to remind you how they can help with delivering the best care to patients, with a range of referrals.

It is mandatory for all safeguarding and falls referrals to be made through SPOC and the team can also help with diabetic hypo referrals and Datix reports (when you cannot access the system).

The SPOC service is available 24/7 and is manned by specially trained staff to manage and direct referrals to the most appropriate service, saving frontline crews having to complete and send the forms themselves.

When you call SPOC you will be asked a set of questions depending on the type of referral you are making and these details will be validated and dispatched to an external team, e.g. local authority or falls liaison team, with a follow-up to the patient’s GP too – so please ensure these details are correct.

Please also remember our legal obligation to report any concerns about a patient’s safety or wellbeing. Your details will not be included in a safeguarding referral, this information remains on the Trust database only.

In all cases, crews can contact SPOC on their airwave radio and request a call back; SPOC will immediately call back on the number of your choice to take the referral. The number you need is 0845 602 6856 and remember to add a 9 in front when calling from a radio.
