Safety walkabout audits

Transparent EEAST crest

The Trust’s process of regularly checking staff views, known as the ‘safety walkabout audits’ can now be submitted via Datix in an updated form.

These audits are undertaken as part of the NHS ‘Walk the Floor’ initiative to enable senior managers to gain an understanding of staff views against a number of criteria including safety of patients and staff, safeguarding and access to information (confidential documents, policies and procedures).

A safety walkabout audit should be undertaken at each site, including response posts, within each quarter so that staff views are sought as much as possible.

The new form can be found on East24 and a shortcut is available on the IPC homepage.

A reporting function will also be available in the near future so that managers can identify which premises still require an audit submission within the quarter.
