Searching for student paramedics in Ipswich

Staff and volunteers braved the wet and windy weather at the weekend for a student paramedic recruitment event in Suffolk.

Community first responders, Trust staff, two ambulances and a RRV were in Cornhill, Ipswich, on Sunday (29th November) for the second time in the space of a month to answer questions from the public and to demonstrate CPR.

DLO James Fisher, who organised the event, said: “It was a very windy and overcast day, but the public were out in force. We spoke with 150 members of the public about student recruitment, CFRs or general engagement about what we do and also parents bringing their kids to see the ‘flashing-lights on the nee-naws’.

“We obtained details for 12 people who are serious about joining EEAST and are going to complete applications shortly. We had a further five who have already applied and wanted to come and meet staff and have an informal discussion.

“I believe it was a very successful event and the feedback was very positive. I would like to add my thanks to the staff that attended Kate Whiting, Nicole McGlanchie, Tracey Haddock and Becky Whitelock.”
