Shortages of alcohol gel

As supplies nationally are constrained, the Trust is also facing shortages of alcohol gel.

Along with other providers we are working with the national supply chain to gain adequate supplies of essential items. In the short term we may have to implement alternatives. However, please be assured that your safety or the patients safety will not be compromised.

If there are alcohol gel constraints in your area, please follow the guidelines below:

  • Use alcohol gel appropriately and minimise wastage as much as possible

  • Use soap and water where you have access to it rather than alcohol gel

  • In the absence of alcohol gel the use Clinell wipes. They will reduce the risk of transmission until you are able to wash hands with soap and water

  • Please don’t stockpile supplies within your area

  • Try to minimise touching your face
