Sickness Management Hub Launch

The Workforce Directorate is pleased to launch the Sickness Management Hub Webpage today on East24.

The purpose of the Sickness Management Hub is to provide practical online toolkits and guidance to all managers and staff in the management of sickness absence as a one stop shop.

The new Sickness Absence Management Policy considers the relevant employment laws and best practice and is designed to complement the effective management of sickness absence. It provides easy access to all the required documents and information in a single webpage.

Whilst the Sickness Management Hub section attempts to give as comprehensive advice and practical guidance/tool kits as possible, in what can often be a challenging area of management, it should not be treated as the complete and authoritative guide to every possible circumstance that may arise. It is key for managers to work in partnership with HR operational team, staff side representatives to ensure that staff sicknesses are successfully managed through their period of absences and employees resume regular work attendance as soon as possible.

You will also note that the Return To Work form (RTW) has been revised to allow a more interactive discussion to take place between the line manager and the member of staff returning.

All line managers are encouraged to use the revised RTW form with immediate effect. This form can be downloaded from the Sickness Management Hub and also from the GRS.
