South Beds sees 150 staff Corpuls trained – in just four weeks

New defibrillator 2 May 2014

South Bedfordshire is leading the way for training after delivering Corpuls sessions to 150 staff in just four weeks – and it’s all down to a “can do attitude” according to the project lead.

Senior Paramedic and Tutor Allan, has thanked the staff from around the Trust who have helped to make such a quick roll-out possible: “Without wanting to seem corny, it has been one massive team effort. The support and ‘can do’ attitude behind the scenes from our clinical engineering team and a few others has been pivotal in making this become a reality.”

Now all the ambulance in the south Beds area are equipped and running with the new Corpuls defib – with the RRVs due to follow soon.

Offering courses twice a day, including at ‘family-friendly’ times, meant the majority of trainees could attend a session at a time that suited them, and the team are now reaping the benefits with almost 100% of staff now fully trained.

Allan added: “The success of this training sits wholly with the engagement of staff.  Without commitment from everyone individually this achievement would easily be months away.

“Again, I have been impressed by the commitment and dedication of staff in south Beds to engage in development, ensuring we have the equipment and training to enhance our skills and patient care for the future.”

“Thank you to the project team, duty locality officers, clinical training leads, and clinical engineering team for your support and for making this happen – for the benefit of our staff and our patients.”
