Southend ambulance station officially opened

Staff in south east Essex welcomed local dignitaries to Southend station, which was officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex Lord Petre yesterday (26th September).

The station, which has been relocated to Aviation Way, is the first to be opened in Essex in recent years and was praised by Chief Executive Robert Morton: “This should be a proud day for the staff of south-east Essex; it truly is a fantastic station. This new building gives our staff improved facilities and a better base to respond to our patients. I want to thank everyone who has been involved in making this day happen.”

Senior Locality Manager Lisa Fautley thanked staff for their support: "I am very proud to manage this area and am absolutely thrilled to work at this new station. We moved in to the premises in April and I would like to thank all the staff for their patience whilst final touches and improvements were made.

She added: "Every day in the ambulance service now is relentless and I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the work they do to ensure our patients receive the best care and also to thank you - their families - for supporting them and being so understanding when they are late home or worn out."

The Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Lord Petre, said: “I’m very impressed with the new station here in Southend, all the staff I met were extremely friendly and the facilities were spotless.”
