Specialist practitioner role launched

EEAST RRVs and amb on scene

Applications are now open for a brand new specialist practitioner role, launched this week.

The trainee specialist for urgent care looks to provide community delivered paramedic care, like the previous emergency care practitioner (ECP) role, and work in out-of-hours services in areas where we run the contracts.

Working across primary and pre-hospital care, practitioners will be given training to develop their specialist knowledge and expertise - allowing them to treat more patients in their homes and arrange appropriate care pathways.

Consultant Paramedic Marcus Bailey said: “This is an exciting role that will help us to better meet our patients’ needs and provide care closer to home. It will also allow us to properly integrate with health and social care to make sure patients get the right treatment in the right place.

“This is a great step not just for individuals but for our paramedic profession; colleagues have rightly been asking for this kind of development opportunity for a long time, and I would really encourage colleagues who want to progress into primary care as a specialist area to apply.

The new role comes as part of the Trust’s new operating model, which will see more patients getting care and treatment in their home or community, and supports the NHS Five Year Forward View around the changing nature of emergency and urgent care.

Open internally to our paramedics, roles are available across the Trust and you can apply directly via the NHS Jobs website:

You can also use these links to access the full job description and person specification. The closing date for applications is 21st August, so make sure to get yours in soon!
