Staff and CFRs launch defibrillator in Leighton Buzzard April 15

On Saturday (11th April), staff and CFRs launched a new community public access defibrillator (CPAD) at the local library in Leighton Buzzard as part of a community event promoting the devices.

The defibrillator was unveiled by the Trust’s first responder group, Mayor Ray Berry, Town Clerk, Mark Saccoccio and representatives from the local Rotary and LB First.

The Leighton Linslade Community First Responders (CFR) were in full force promoting the new devices and offering residents a chance to have a go at using the defibrillators.

Locality Director for Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, Dave Fountain, said: “I’d like to congratulate the town and the responder group for the installation of this life-saving piece of equipment which will save lives.

“By letting local residents have a go at using a defibrillator, people found this very helpful and gave them more confidence and reduced anxiety around the devices.

Stephen Bennett, Leighton Buzzard CFR Co-ordinator, said: “It has been an extremely busy year for all involved in this huge but worthwhile project. It’s hard to believe that we started this project less than 12 months ago with the aim of purchasing and installing one public access defibrillators and have ended up with five. This is a fantastic result for everyone one involved and a great result for Leighton Linslade which is now a safer place to live, work and play. I just want to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the 12 months and hope that the units prove to be a valuable asset to the town".
