Staff feedback on ambulance trial

Van conversion

Thank you to all staff who provided feedback following the trial of the two ambulances from the West Midlands Ambulance Service in February.

Here are some of the things you told us in your responses:

  • You rated the visual warnings, audible warnings, seat adjustments and braking as excellent.
  • You liked the trauma lights, night lights, internal labelling and cab comfort.
  • You said there was limited equipment storage, particularly for PPE.
  • You preferred the tail lift of the coach-based ambulances to the ramp and winch arrangements of the trial ambulances.

The full feedback has now been given to the executive team.

As published recently in Need to Know, the Trust will be investing in 120 new Mercedes coach-style ambulances, which will be operational by July 2015, as part of the fleet upgrade programme.

A broader and longer trial of other ambulances may happen in the future, and as always, staff feedback will be sought to ensure your opinions are taken into account.
