Staff honoured in Trust’s Excellence Awards

Awards pic November 2014

Some of our most inspiring staff and volunteers have been honoured in the year’s second special celebration of patient care and outstanding work.

Guests at the Ambulance Excellence Awards on Friday (14th November) were honoured with accolades for going above and beyond in patient care, including staff, volunteers and members of the public.

Chief Executive Anthony Marsh opened proceedings at the Manor of Groves Hotel in east Hertfordshire by saying how proud he was of those who “do their very best to give high standards of patient care, and for meeting demanding challenges placed on the service every day”.

Awards included outstanding contribution, special recognition, Hidden Gems, and Chief Officer Commendations.

The ceremony was attended by a host of guests from across the region, including emergency services and NHS colleagues, and local authority dignitaries. One of the highlights of the night was when those who helped save the life of two-year-old William Hemming, who fell into a pond and stopped breathing, were commended for their efforts.

After the awards, Anthony Marsh said: “I started my career in the ambulance service more than 27 years ago, so I know what a difficult job our staff and volunteers have.  I am very proud to lead this ambulance service with such passionate and motivated staff and volunteers, who work day in and day out to help patients, often in their greatest hour of need.

“It is absolutely right we recognise those that consistently go above and beyond for the service. Well done to you all.”

A big congratulations to all who have been recognised in the awards. If you attended, you will receive a commemorative photo but please contact awards@eastamb.nhs.uk for any further information.
