Staff Present at Hospice conference

Ambulance staff presenting at a national conference have highlighted how Trust staff can make a difference to end of life care.

Richard Smith (Paramedic, West Herts), James Hill (Paramedic and ECAT Team leader) and Sarah Stead (Area Clinical Lead) presented their experience and understanding of end of life care in the Trust at the Hospice UK National Conference.

The conference ran over three days and attracted hundreds of delegates from across the UK, who work or specialise in palliative and end of life care. Trust staff presented to the audience on the third day of the conference.

Claire said: “It is recognised that ambulance staff can make a real difference but must be supported and educated to provide good end of life care and we are dedicated to helping the Trust to improve education and support.

“Moving forward, there is much more work to do, but the support and guidance from the hospice of St Francis and other hospices across the region has been and will continue to be invaluable. It is helping ambulance clinicians to feel confident and supported in promoting a good and dignified death.”
