Storage of personal data on Trust PCs

Hands typing on keyboard

While the IT team have been upgrading PCs to the new version of Windows, they have come across several instances where staff have kept personal data, such as music and pictures, stored on their Trust PCs.

Personal data stored anywhere on the Trust network, which includes desktops and laptops, should be restricted to work-related personal data only.

In many instances, there are costs associated with data storage for the Trust, which you may not be aware of, but the main reason for this policy is for security. You may unintentionally introduce a virus or malware into the Trust’s network which could have serious consequences so please note that no non-work related personal data should be kept on your PC or network shares or any reason.

If this affects you, please ensure you have removed all personal non-work related data from your PC and network shares as soon as possible.

For further information, please refer to section 8.8 of the Operational Security Policy which can be found HERE on East24.

If you have any queries or concerns please contact the IT Service Desk.
