Student paramedic update

We continue to work with the University of East Anglia (EUA) and Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) who are going through the application process with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for their paramedic courses as prior to any programme starting it must be approved HCPC. We will keep student paramedics updated on how the universities progress with their respective applications.

Students have told us that they would like to be better updated and communicated with and so the following has been agreed based on your feedback:

  • We will publish a timetable of communication for all student cohorts (i.e. when they would expect to do APEL, interviews and so on)
  • We will provide a regular update in Need to Know every other week, covering aspects such as the approval progress, course progress generally, mentorship, support and the university element
  • We will email students personal communications when there is an expected action from themselves (i.e. such as enrolling onto a course or completing appropriate documentation)
  • We will introduce a dedicated student paramedic page on East24 so we can give you one place where all bulletins, updates and documents are located.
  • We will introduce a student-forum led by the Trust in this interim period whilst the universities are going through the approval process (once university courses are approved, the university will be introducing a student council to represent the student paramedics they are educating).

We are currently developing how the student forum might work, and again will keep you updated.
