Suffolk CFRs receive 'phenomenal' donation

A “phenomenal” donation has been celebrated that will help to save more lives in west Suffolk.

A cheque for £2,500 was presented to the Lark Valley Community First Responders (CFRs) last week (31^st March) to buy extra life-saving medical equipment.

Volunteers from the group, which was formed three years ago, attend medical emergencies in the Bury St Edmunds, Fornhams, Lackford, Hengrave, Flempton, Culford and Ingham areas.

Simon Harding and Valerie Legg from Church Walks Charities presented the cheque at a training session in Fornham St Genevieve. The money was raised through plant and vegetable sales from Valerie and Simon’s Bury St Edmunds home, and car boot sales. 

The funds will be used to buy a new medical kit bag and equipment, including a defibrillator and pulse oximeter.

Group Co-ordinator Steve Crowe said: “It is a phenomenal amount of money and one of the largest donations we have received. It can take us a year to raise that sum of money.

“We have two sets of kit, but having extra kit will allow us to offer more cover and volunteer more often.”
